I am currently riding with a Trek 2000. The frame is made of aluminum. I am thinking about upgrading to a carbon frame. Does any one has any unsatisfactory experience with carbon frame? By the way, is there a big difference between 105 and Ultegra?

Yes, with one of the first carbon frames. I bought a used 1990 Specialized Allez Epic Carbon last year and quickly sold it before it was way too flexible at the bottom bracket level. There's also stories of unglued frames from that time although I didn't experience it. Some older carbon frame are also known as offering very dull/wooden rides. After a stint with a 2001 aluminum frame that was a lot stiffer I bought a 2003 carbon frame that is night and day compared to the 1990 frame. So make sure you select a recent carbon frame, their stiffness is much improved and the ride is fantastic.
