  1. Has anybody ever heard of a carbon fiber quill stem being available? It seems like a natural retrofit product that could resurrect the life of many an older threaded headset bike...

    Resurrect? None of mine seem to be in need. I would not spend my nickel on one.

    Not to mention the hell the wedge could play with CF. An alloy insert at the base would be one way around it,but why bother?

  4. If you're that hard up to fit a carbon stem on a bike equiped with a threaded headset, use any of the many adaprters available to use an ahead style stem with a threaded headset. Like others have mentioned, it seems like a bit of a waste in any event.
