    It *might* be alright (especially if you're a lighter rider)....but why take the chance?? What do you have to gain? Would you save 30 grams? Smooth out non-existent bumps on the track? I don't see the point. Just get a good steel fork and be done with it. The only exception I can think of is for timed solo events...if the fork is aero-shaped, it would by necessity be made of carbon, as perhaps the steerer tube would be. And no chance of crashing in that type of event, I assume, so it wouldn't be a prob I guess?

  3. Well, i can contribute here!

    I got a carbon steerer on my planet-x and i got it chopped off becasue there was some sticking out the top and after it was cut i was changing aero bars and i noticed a nice crack from the top down where the stem sits, i'm going to get hold of a new fork soon.
