carbon ergo bars

Its a personal thing, but I dont like them. I ride on the tops a great deal of the time, and I find 'normal' bars more comfortable.

One other thing, I did see a chick out on a club ride who broke her nice new carbon bars. She stopped at the lights, didn't unclip in time and fell over on her side. This is a nothing crash, but the carbon bar neatly snapped in two. Don't know if this was a manufacturing fault or just unlucky.

On the plus side they are very pretty and light so...

Another one to consider is the Cinelli RAM bars. Pricey, but very good. I bought mine slightly used on ebay.

They are molded to fit your hands in several positions, especially just aft of the hoods. Flat sections on top for riding on your palms, and even rounded sections near the center for a psuedo aero position. If you don't like any of that, you can always hang them on your wall as sculpture - the finish on these bars is magnificent.

They do seem to dampen some road vibration. I'm not having near the numb hands problem that I was with aluminum bars.

My bike has fallen over twice this summer, and the RAM bars are still intact.
