  1. I bought a rear-mounted rack with straps but just wasn't sure about it
    so took it back.

    There's no tow-bar on the car so that's out.

    Halfords do the following clip-on rack that would seem to be the same
    as the Mont Blanc one.

    Have you considered the Saris Bones (http://www.saris.com/). We hook
    ours up to a 206 and it's quite happy with three bikes. Should really
    have a lighting board to go with it, though.

  3. As a general comment, I've had no problem with stability wih any of these
    types of carriers, hung carefully on the back of the car and driving
    sensibly. What I have had a problem with is the straps slipping through the
    crocodile clip style things after a few months use. The cure I found was to
    buy a couple of small screw down clamps from the local DIY chain and fix
    them on the straps.
