I've been using Avid Shorty's on my "tourer" for a couple of years. Koolstop salmon/black Trimline
pads. While I'm not nuts about their stopping power, and I need to work out a recurrent squeal every
few months, I'm not at the point of tossing them, either.
However, I was just given a bikesworth of NOS XT cantis w/new salmon pads by a buddy...a good
buddy...who has no use for them, and who is urging me to swap the Avids out for the XTs. He "swears"
that I'll be astonished at the increase in stopping power and how well and quiet the XT's run.
I'm too old to astonish that easily...but I'd like comments as to his recommendation...and, yes, I
do have room for the Avids in my misc. my parts box. :>😉
Thanks!
