Can you replace wire on Cateye Mity 8?

You can splice the wire and solder the connections. If I do this I split the conductors and put small diameter heat shrinkable tubing away from the solder joints. I then slide the tubing over the joints to overlap into the insulated wire on both sides. Heat and use as before.
You can by just the mount with cable from the outfit that supports Cateye. They do a nice business in replacement pieces for reasons just like yours.

Thanks, guess I'll have to spring for the replacement or a whole new setup since I don't have a soldering iron and don't know how to use one if I did. 🙂 Thanks for the info though. Maybe I should try to strip the wire a bit and see if I can splice it together better and retape it.
