  1. Hi Group-

I have been gone for a few weeks, and here is why.
I was on some medication for an illness a while back that resulted in me
    gaining 20 lbs.
I first began low carbing 7 years ago at age 20. I had gained my freshman
40, low carbing got rid of it for me, and quick. I had managed to keep the
    weight off until recently.

My medication was finally changed, and I am feeling much better now. However
I needed to deal with the 20 lbs. weight gain. I went on 3 hard core weeks
    of
induction and lost only 5 lbs. I was feeling worthless. So I decided to go
on an intense low calorie diet in an attempt to shock my system. I have
lost 10 pounds quickly, just by watching calories, essentially eating fruit,
    veggies and occasionally fish.

At any rate, I feel I only have 5 more pounds to loose, I think I will
continue on the low calorie diet until that happens.

My question is if any one truthfully knows if I go back on Atkins, will I
gain the weight back??? I mean, it will be so many more calories, I am a
little scared to go back. Now I am confused about calories and carbs, I
have lost weight doing both of them.

If any one has any logical or sounds advise, I would truly appreciate it.

  2. You can do low carb and low calorie at the same time.

Lo-carb allows you to eat less without having to starve. No matter what
diet you are following, it still boils down to calories in = calories out.
No diet will have long lasting effect if you don't change your lifestyle to
eating sensibly and exercising. There is no magic in lo-carb that allows you
to eat more calories than other diets.
Basically, refined carbs cause blood sugar swings. When blood sugar gets
too low, the body tries to compensate and often ends up eating more than
necessary. Lo-carbing can stabilize these swings by eliminating high/refined
carbs so you can eat normally instead of over-eating.
Read the book again so you can re-affirm the reasons why lo-carbing works.
If you don't have a book, there is a FAQ posted in this group every day that
has good links to sites with loads of info.

The feelings were baseless. You likely know that
intellectually so try to make it sink in. The first
Induction nearly always includes plenty of water
loss. The second Induction it's less common. Think
of what you accomplished - five pounds that might not
include any water loss. That's huge compared to how
    mouch you have to lose.

    Low calorie works.

The folks who gain while on low carb are the ones below
their ideal weight (have you done objective measurements
of your ideal weight?) or the ones who over eat. There
is nothing in your post that suggests either.

You sure have. You lost well on low carb this time as
    well as your previous time.

  5. track your eating on fitday. I' m careful not to go over my 2000 calories a
day low carbing. That is not a low cal diet but what I need to maintain my
current weight. when I drop my carbs down to my losing limit of 25 a day, I
lose. I'm not satisfied with a higher carb limit and am sometimes hungrier.
Figure out what limits you personally need to deal with.
