Synchro 1 was hopeless. I owned this setup on a top-end Pinarello. The
bike featured a matching C-Record rear derailleur. The indexing was slow
and erattic, and the friction shifting was marginally less frustrating. I'm
sure the poor shifting was also a result of the dismal Regina CXS freewheel
and chain (Hyperglide is much, much better), or the pretty but primitive
C-Record derailleur. I perserveared with this for about 2 weeks. I then
went to Simplex retrofriction shifters, like even Campy-sponsored riders
rode in the mid-80's. Non-indexing, but much better.
I have ridden Sychro 2. The shifting was great. With modern
cables/housing, a SRAM 7/8 speed chain, a 7-speed Shimano HG37 Hyperglide
freewheel and a Campy derailleur from 1992-2000, the indexing is so good
that you may not ever want to go to Ergopower.

Try tightening the screw. If that doesn't work, you may be missing a part.
