I'm currently using a 1978 Super Record Strada crankset with a 115mm BB spindle. The rear derailleur is a 1984 Nouvo Record, the chain is a Regina Extra ORO (1/2" X 3/32"😉, and the freewheel is a 5-speed Regina Extra ORO.
I also have an early 1990's Record bottom bracket (111mm). QUESTION: Is an early 1990's Record (aka C-Record?) crankset compatable with my existing freewheel/chain combination? In other words, will an old-school 5-speed freewheel and chain work with the chainrings found on a 1990's Record crankset? Do I have to "upgrade" to a 7,8 or even 9-speed freewheel/chain combo in order to use the C-Record crankset, or will it work with the older stuff? All opinions and comments will be greatly appreciated.
