Am I correct in assuming that the same (left) Campy Ergo lever can
handle either a double or triple chainring but the Shimano STI lever
must be replaced if you change double<--> triple?

today are both as well with the exception today of the left 7800(10s) STI and
shimano also makes a double ONLY 6600(10s Ultegra), but the triple(6601) will
shift doubles and triples. Been that way since about 1998.Peter Chisholm
