Is there any truth to the rumor I've heard going around town about Campy's $850.00 Record carbon crankset failing, that is, an earlier version of the same failing and being recalled because of either the clear coat finish, and/or the carbon weave delaminating? If the rumor I heard is not a rumor but true in fact, please could you tell us (all who might be concerned) where and from whom you got your information, and if possible provide us with any other pertinent info you might have related to this failed batch of carbon cranks (i.e., production numbers, production year, more details about this alleged failure and etc. If you will, your time and effort is much appreciated.

No outright failures and no recall. Some left arms were noisy, and these were warrantied with no problems of the replacement.
