I've built up my latest bike using Campy record groupo, but have one problem. I can't get the guide pulley to align with the outermost(smallest) cog. I've bottomed out the H-Screw but its still off. Right now cable tension is what is aligning it with the outermost gear, but its off enough to cause chatter. The hanger seems to be aligned, and the derailleur shifts fine except for the chatter in the outermost cog. The frame is carbon and has a really thick dropout, thicker than the 9mm max that Campy recommends. Any ideas on how to fix the chatter?
I had a similar problem, it was not a chatter but an occasional skip in high gear. However it might be the same solution. If you are using a campy chain with a quick link and 11 tooth cog make sure you have the link installed the correct direction or just try flipping it the opposite direction of the way you have it installed now. That might fix your problem. Not an issue when using a 12 as the gear is big enough for the link to work either direction. I went for several months thinking I had a stop issue when in fact it was the quick link installed improperly. Good luck.

Hmmm, not sure this is the same issue I have with two diff Chorus bikes. One is a Colnago carbon, with thick dropouts.
I can just barely align it, but need to use cable tension to get it to shift out of that small cog on the first click of the shifter. This is the case with both a Wheels Manufacturing cassette on a Power Tap hub, and the other bike with Velocity hub and Veloce cassette.

I had the same problem. I needed cable tension to get rid of that first click hesitation. I run a 12-25 cassette on a white industries hub. I wonder what the maximum supportable distance is between the outer cog and outer edge of the drop out/derailleur hanger for the campy derailleur. I'll probably take it in to a bike shop just to make sure the hanger is aligned and that's not the cause of the problem.
