I have a campy front quick release. The thumbnut has a plastic (nylon?) insert which has become loose. Since it is loose, the skewer will thread partially into the plastic and just rotate without advancing into the metal portion of the nut.
What is the best way to tighten the plastic insert?

you *could* try using a punch to clamp the insert back into the body, or drilling and tapping a thread for a 2mm bolt. But personaly I'd just replace the QR, it is an essential safety device after all...

I don't see how it can be drilled or tapped. The insert just spins within the nut. I've already tried a drill bit. Does anyone know how these are made? I kind of looks like there is a separate metal retainer but I'm not sure.
