Campy 10sp chain and Wipperman/Connex

I know this has been touched on in several recent posts but I am still
confused. I have a new bike with Chorus 10 sp cassette, controls and
rear dr. The cranks and front dr are FSA compact. With my calipers the
chain measures 5.9 mm at the widest point (the pins). The pins are
hollow and the side plates have two little holes in them.

1) I have a Connex 6.2 mm link in my toolbox. Can I use it in the Campy
chain? Will it work not at all, not very well, ok or just fine?

2) If I can use the link, can I use my usual chain tool to break the
chain? My chain tool is a little Park Folding one (CT-6).

3) When the chain wears out, will one of the Wipperman chains work well
enough or do they shift poorly or are they noisy. The bike shifts like a
dream right now but the chain ticks a bit on a couple of the cogs.

Thanks,

I've used the 6.2mm connex link with the narrow campy chain and it works
fine. Just make sure the gently curved side of the link faces the teeth on
the chainrings and cassette. I've also used the narrower 6.05mm connex link
that's designed for Shimano 10s on the narrow campy chain. That works fine
too. Can't really say that I could tell the difference.

I am really impressed however with the new 5.9mm campy chain versus the
older 6.2mm one. It's made an appreciable difference in my drivetrain -
quieter and easier to setup to chift perfectly. My personal opinion is that
you're better off with the campy chain that the wipperman one (the $$ is not
that much difference - maybe $10?), and the quietness and ease of setup on
the campy wins me over.

You can use any standard chain tool to shorten the campy chain. Putting it
back together (making it longer) is the trickier part......

Happy riding!

It will be a little loose. Probably no problem but on a rough road,
while shifting it 'may' come apart-ideally, get the Wipperman 6.05
wodth one.

best shifting we see is with the Campag 2006 Veloce chain(5.9mm)-use
another, new 6.05 link and bob's yer uncle-
