The flat spring that goes on top of the thumb shifter part connects to the plastic lever body via the little hook. Does the center of this flat washer spring go around the 5 mm bolt in the center?
This is the symptom: if I tighten the 5mm allen bolt so it doesn't move, the thumb shifter doesn't return after you depress it. If I keep the 5mm allen bolt loose enough for the thumb shifter part to return the spring rotates and the "hook" in the spring doesn't engage the side of the lever body.
Is it ok if the flat spring rotates and then isn't making contact with the lever body?

shift the lever as if into the 'big ring'. put the inside 'hook' of the flat spring in the notch at the 4 oclock position, then around to the little notch in the body. Bolts securing the guts were 4mm and now 3mm..not sure about the '5mm'. Something is not installed correctly if you tighten the bolt on the back and the thumb button won't return. Something is making the guts 'too tall'.
If it is still gooned up, sent it to me and I'll turn it around same day.
