Damien Teku, Woodwork cycling club, reporting
(A rider in the currently contested Cameroun National Tour)
"The tour is progressing gradually. We still have some time to observe
the foreign cyclists. We have seen that they are good in the flat
races. We are counting on our performance in the mountain stages. As
at now we can only hope on the hilly laps because the first cyclist
(Kazakhstan) is already two minutes away from the second athlete. It
is becoming a bit difficult. We are now waiting for the mountain
stages to see if we can make the difference.
I had a tyre puncture on Sunday which caused me to be eleven minutes
from the first athlete. But I am sure to make up for it in the
mountains. The tough teams in the race are those from Turkey and
Egypt. They have the tendency to fight against the Cameroonians. The
other teams - Senegal, Burkina Faso, France, etc, have no any
influence on us."
