  1. Quick question for anyone in Leeds. Are you allowed to cycle up Briggate
through the pedestrian area (towards The Headrow)? The council website has it
marked as 'pedestrian area, cycling restricted, see signs'.

"Don't be silly, Minnie. Who'd be walking round these cliffs with a gas oven?"

Which is what my Leeds Cycling Map says too. If I recall correctly, the
signs say that you can cycle outside trading hours - something like 6pm
to 8am. If I'm walking through town tomorrow I'll check out the signs.

ISTR it's you can cycle any time *except* between 10am and 4:30pm. I.e.
the first and last hour of trading are OK for cycling. I've sometimes
cycled through the pedestrian area, legally, at about 9:30am. I make a
point of sticking to 1st of 2nd gear (of 7) and keeping down to walking
pace, so as not to annoy/collide with pedestrians.
