    Fellow Cyclists,
A small group is meeting Wed to provide comments to VicRoads on draft
consultant plans/PBN designs for bike treatments on Chandler, Tooronga,
Riversdale Glenferrie. All solutions have bike storage boxes.

    1. Chandler - expensive project but should be effective; involves lot of
linemarking changes to get a 1.5 m bike lane across from Princess St to the
bridge - lane on both sides. Conflict areas marked in green pavement
material. Off road path stays on eastern side. Looks good.

    2. Tooronga Rd similar to Auburn Rd. Lanes don't/ can't start until Hall
St south of Toorak. Lanes 1.4m. appears only minor adjustments possible
unless someone offer a solution from freeway overpass north to Hall St?

    3. Riversdale Rd from Burke Rd to Highfield Rd. Already marked with WKL
west of Burke Rd. Will continue WKL to east. Appears straightforward - is
scope to increase number of WKL symbols.

    4. Glenferrie - NEED OPINIONS ON THIS - Council agreed to shared path on west up to Callantina and Shared Bike Parking Lanes for rest. SBPL exists (but needs redoing) in Glenferrie shops section. This treatment works where there is sufficient car parking. Where there is less car parking, ie. in
patches between Burwood Rd and Riversdale Rd, it might appear to some to be not a good use of space where there would be only one travel lane and an empty SBPL parking lane. (even though it is unlikely to change the actual road capacity of Glenferrie Rd in this section with either treatment).

However if have WKL marked from Callantina to Burwood rd then some/lot of the symbols will be parked over and then not useful to cyclists or
credible. (Power St is example of worst case).

If you have any thoughts on any of the above please send to me to assist
the group in preparing a comment to VicRoads.

    Regards,
    Graeme
