  1. Any remedies for these? My left calf especially has bothered me since November, and hasn't really
gotten better. I've gotten new shoes, and cut back on mileage. I have to stop every 1/4 mile or so
in every run to massage my calves--meaning I have to sit down on the curb, etc and do this--so my
mileage is now 12 - 15 mpw at best, and at a very slow pace
(15:00 pace when you include the stopping).

    Thanks,

    Jean in VA

so i am going back to swimming. i get a follow up mri tonight to see if there is any sort of healing
going on. i still have pain so i am not sure what the scoop is.

Rest. Take 1-2 weeks off. Not light running. NO running. Without the rest, your injured muscle
    tissue will not recover.

There are some cases that take a long time (3 months or more) to heal, but most recover in less than
2 weeks. If you cannot jog slowly for a couple of sessions after 10-14 days of rest, visit an MD.
The more you run on an injured muscle like this, the more likely that the condition will become
chronic and much more difficult to treat. Act now, before it gets to that stage.
