Bubba said:Many references cite Caesar Cardini as having invented the Caesar Salad
(with no anchovies), however, Diana Kennedy states that his brother,
Alex, actually developed this salad (with anchovies) and that she got
the story (and was served the salad) by none other than Alex himself.
Anyone have a take on this?
Yeah, and I knew Caesar's babysitter and she actually invented the
salad and it included sliced bananas!
IOW, who gives a flop? The whole Caesar Salad origins thing has
become a crashing bore, what with everybody and their dog claiming to
know the true history. According to this article......
http://www.kitchenproject.com/history/CaesarSalad.htm
.....it's not even Diana Kennedy who claims to know. It's Stephen Block
stating Paul Kump claims to know that Diana Kennedy.... yada yada...
Since hardly anyone makes the dressing the same as the alleged
original, it's a moot point. If you want anchovies, add anchovies! I
certainly do.
