I was wondering if people over 170 pounds agree that this bike has a harsh ride. I'll be using normal handbuilt wheels on smooth roads.

ive got the same frame, but im not over 170 pounds. Some times it can be a bit harsh but generally its fine!

I ride a CAAD4 and don't find it harsh at all, I'm around 200Lbs...my Bike has Mavic XP wheels by the way...
In fact, I find my Bike to be quite remarkable for the price, I bought it brand new for only $419.00...
My last Road Bike was a Felt (low-end) and that was extremely harsh!!! My 'Dale is a dream ride compared to it...

I'm only 165 lbs and my CAAD 4 is a dream. It rides almost like my old steel Tomasini Columbus TSX but since its a full 9 pounds lighter and much stiffer in the bottom bracket, it feels, well, faster. Its a bit quicker in the turns which took a little getting used to but it has been fine for everything under 120 miles.
