The first 6 finishers of an approx 20km race averaged about 60km/hr? This seems a little nutty. Of course I'm in deadline mode, so who knows, but still: that's 37mph. The pics show unfaired bikes on a flat course. Wow. Or?

The photos look like the race took place on the criterium course in the infield of the oval. rowingbike.comDSCF0195.JPGOpen ↗ clearly shows both riders cornering; not something one needs to do on the oval.
The average speeds suggest that they were calculated by using the length of the oval itself - 2.85 km - rather than the 1.75 km crit course. Pluggin that number in brings the average speed down to a more realistic 39.5 km/h.
I think they plotted it all based on the wrong distance figure. I go with Legs on this one. But who knows! ...I'd never heard that rowbikes were anywhere close to regular bents tho speedwise...unfaired.
It would appear that the speeds were, indeed, as fast as that!

PS: By anywhere close, I mean that maybe rowbikes average 25mph on a course where lowracers ave. 30mph. So that's still very fast, but not as fast... I'm WAY INTO the rowbike concept and would LOVE to try (own!) one someday! Allbody action is always the best in my book.
