Good Morning All,
I recently recieved the Bicycle Victoria 2005-2006 Great Rides
programme (surprising, but there you are), and raise the following question:
Q: Where was the bushranger Ned Kelly born?
A: Certainly not, as stated on the map on Page 6, at Heathcote in
central Victoria(!)Residents of Beveridge, 40 km north of Melbourne,
where Edward Kelly was really born, might have something to say about
this, not to mention other Victorian towns with genuine connections with
the rogue in question, such as Glenrowan, Beechworth etc.
Where on earth did BV get that particular snippet from, and how did it
get all the way through subbing and proof-reading? Too late now, BV have
just printed c. 100,000 expensive copies of this howler.
I've been having some discussions recently about applying for a position
somewhere as a part-time researcher. I certainly won't be applying to
Bicycle Victoria!
Regards,
Ray Peace
