I'm just back from a long weekend doing most of this 80 mile route
round East Devon (Regional Route 52) plus other rides in the area. I
was born and brought up round there (Honiton) but never did that much
cycling as a kid (probably because of the hills and the rubbish old
bikes I always had). Returning there in affluent middle age with
somewhat fancier equipment has shown me what a wonderful cycling area
it is. Very scenic everywhere with loads of options on quiet lanes, and
nice little towns and villages. There are some ferocious hills though
which will keep your average speed well down so don't overestimate your
daily mileage capability (as we did). We saw one other cyclist en
route, so it's not exactly a busy touring area. And yes, we did see
lots of buzzards. Thoroughly recommended short tour. Contact me if you
need any info.
