'm in the process of buying a new mountain bike, my current one is a very elderly (+10 yrs old) specialized rockhopper. I use my bike mostly on the road but plan to venture off road in the near future. I've looked at the Specialized D4W range and was pretty impressed but want to know if there is anything else out there I should be considering.
I tried the full suspension D4W but I'm not sure if this is designed for the more extreme rider and I might be paying for something I don't really need. I have up to £750 to spend, but don't want to waste money on gimicks that I'm not really going to need. I've spoken to several salesmen but they just seem to want me to spend all of my budget - no surprise there I suppose!
