    I don't think it's a secret, at all.

    The only hard part of terrorism is recruiting people to blow
    themselves up. Explosives are cheap. The hard part of
    recruiting is convincing young, idealistic people that they
    hate Americans. (Of course, I have no experience doing this,
    but it seems pretty obvious.)

    Bush has given millions of young Muslims plenty of reasons
    to hate Americans. By doing so, he has recruited more
    terrorists than Mr. bin Laden could have hoped for in his
    wildest dreams.

    It is no surprise that the recent State Department report on
    terrorism shows that the number of terrorism incidents
    increased, again, in 2003. It has increased every year since
    we started using force to try to suppress it.
