I built a set of mountain bike wheels a couple of years ago a cheap pair of rims that I bought at a fall bike show and Shimano XT hubs. It was really an experiment to see if I could do it. I have been riding these wheels for two years without any issues.
Now, I am considering building a second set with some higher end rims. I'd like to go UST this time and am wondering what are the best mid price rims to use?
