Just found this group and didn't get any really good answers from my last post. Anyone?

BTW, I am installing them gently.
When you close the brakes do the pads touch the tyre instead or in addition to the rim?

That is a possibility that never occurred to me, thanks. Do you know for a fact one leads to the other?

That is a possibility that never occurred to me, thanks. Do you know for a fact one leads to the other?
I know from embarrassing experience that pads contacting the sidewall will destroy the tire pretty quickly, though by abrasion and cuts rather than breaking the bead.
