they could bring the plans back in, in the future. He has also not ruled
out using any part of the path. Parts of the path were altered
(ruined) about 8 years ago when the built the ring road past an approx.
1 mile stretch.

However there is also a council vote on Tuesday where there is a motion
against the use of the path, all the LD councilers are going to vote for
the motion.

TBH this climb down has been on the cards for a while with the amount of
people against the plans, and the trouble they would have getting
funding if they wanted to use the railway path.

I cycled it last year and it's amazing that they made such a bad job of
diverting the path around the new road. There's something about highway
engineers - they seem incapable of thinking outside of the (metal) box.
Are they actually human, or do they go through some form of
reconstruction at highway engineer school?

The LD motion was to never use the cycle path for BRT, which was amended
by the Labour party with a wrecking amendment.

The council have refused to completely rule out using the cycle path for
BRT, and are still considering using the path. However they are
proposing to run a trial elsewhere before deciding on a route.

The council claim whichever route they use will be contentious and cause
disruption, which makes me wonder if BRT is suitable for Bristol at all.
