  1. Jimmi Madsen of Denmark partnered by Martin Nothstein (Usa) have a slim lead over the Austro-Swiss
    pair of Stocher-Marvulli after the first night of racing at the Bremen Stadthalle.

    Incidentally this 41st edition of the Bremen Six, and the 40th in the Stadthalle, will be the last
    held in this venue with future editions, if any, being contested in a new Grenoble style multi
    purpose Arena.

    Gerd Dorich, sans his originally assigned partner, Robert Sassone, is back in 8th spot partnered by
    Six-Day novice roadman, Tom Steels, who had asked Sercu if he could ride a few events as he will be
    focussing on making the Belgian track squad for the Olympics and will not ride the Tour de France.
    There had previously been no room for Steels, but when Sassone had to forfeit with an injured hand,
    Steels gladly accepted Patrick Sercu's last minute invitation.
