Just finished filling in this week's stats on my training spreadsheet and was wondering what HRM stats the rest of the BR'ers have for Heart rate.
When the question came up today for Con about how much further Clintons Rd was over the shortcut I was thinking distance and time are probably irrelevant for those sections. And probably largely irrelevant for the whole ride given the number of hills. The relevant stat for me last week was over that 30 min section I probably spent 20 mins in 80%-90% and ten minutes above 90% (where Dutchy complained I was breathing too loud, well derr). The shortcut is only 4km less but I spend that 21 mins around 80% so get to Smiths Gully feeling pretty good (relatively speaking of course).
For the whole ride, which for me is around 2hrs45, I spend about 40 mins in 70-80% and 2hrs in 80-90% (and if I go hard up Warrandyte-KGround probably 10 mins in 90%+). No wonder I'm totally knackered at the end.
Is anyone else tracking this? What sort of time do you spend in the various zones. What about others who do hilly training rides?

Haven't done a BR yet, but I have been using a HRM since '95. Experience has shown me that when it's warmer my heart rate rises. When it's hotter the blood flows quicker to disperse heat so that kind of follows.
Not having a power meter I can only go off of perceived effort. A max heart rate effort will typically record a lower heart rate on a colder day than on a warmer day. I don't think my performance is any different, just that the base level that my heart's starting at is higher and my muscles give out before my heart does.
I typically use a higher than normal heart rate on a warm day as a cue to increase hydration. -- Cheers | ~~ __@ Euan | ~~ _-\<, Melbourne, Australia | ~ (*)/ (*)

I haven't noticed so much difference on the bike on hot days (maybe I just take it easier), but for running a hot day can increase my HR by 10 bpm.

Hmm - I cant seem to change the zone values with the Polar software and have it 'reapply' them to existing exercises.. anyways, from today's ride using the default zones:
