Seems early in his career he lived with a English couple in Belgium, who by nature of being English, not suprisingly spoke with a English accent. Well, Boyer became convinced that they only took on the English accent when he was around, and would otherwise speak with an 'American' accent when he was out of earshot. When confronted about the issue, the host thought Boyer was pulling a gag, but soon came to realise he was completly serious.
