Bottom Bracket woes, desperately need help

Not sure which way to turn it, but have mostly tried counter-clockwise on the left side. The bike is a Bianchi XL 2004. Anybody got any tips? I'm desperate, the LBS's don't have any appointments for at least a week and next week I'm going on vacation and was looking forward to riding a lot.
