Bottom bracket bearing

Probably the whole bottom bracket will need replacing if it's a cartridge
type and there is play when each crank is pushed & pulled sideways. If old
style bottom bracket, you'll be able to replace and adjust the parts, or
replace the whole thing with a cartridge one, using the Park Tools
instructions.

of the most common BBs.

www.chainreactioncycles.com are good for Shimano BBs - which suit most
cranks (but not Campagnolo). Required axle length mainly depends on the
model of cranks - check what the crank manufacturer advises.
