According to Paul Sherwin, Botero was hoping to arrive at the finish well early in order to get in a
quickie with one or both of the podium girls.

Botero was using good old Kelme tactics. Send some guys up front to help the leader later on. That's
the same tactics UPSP used with Rubiera and Beltran. Botero could never have stayed with Vino until
he got in trouble on the Tourmalet because he would have been dropped way before that.

Not the same because Armstrong still had other teammates who could help him. Sending Beltran and
Rubierra off the front also encouraged other teams to take over the work at the front and allowed
USPS guys to rest. None of this factored into Botero being off the front.

He should have come to Vino's aid sooner.
