BOSTON: Where are the cooking shows???

Pardon my ignorance, but, aside from Food Network, what other cooking shows can I get in the Boston
area? (Nothing wrong with Food Network, BTW; I just want to expand my choices.) I've been told that
there are some very nice cooking shows on PBS, and I understand that in Boston the PBS channels are
2 and 44, but looking over the schedules for these two channels I was not able to find a single
cooking show. Are there other PBS channels in the Boston area?

Also, I have cable (Comcast); what other good cooking shows can I find via cable (other than
Food Network)?

Thanks,

Jill

And if you miss them on WGBH, you can probably catch them on Providence's WSBE Channel 36.

The cooking shows in Boston are on Channel 2 and Channel 11 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on
Saturdays. Channel 44 also has them, but I don't know the times. These are the PBS stations. Channel
11 is from New Hampshire.

On NHPTV (Channel 11 on ComCast cable) between 9am and 12:30pm on Saturdays. http://www.nhptv.org/programs/dec14-
20.htm#20

On WGBH (Channel 2 on ComCast cable) between 12pm and 4pm on Saturdays.

On WGBX/44 (Channel 16 on ComCast cable) between 9pm and 11pm.

I notice the lineup has changed somewhat since the end of the WGBH fund raising. Ron Della Chiesa's
"Cooking Around Town" has been replaced by a Mark Kurlansky (author of "Cod: A Biography of the Fish
that Changed the World", "Salt: A World History" amongst others) hosted program about bread.

As they say, the best television on television.

cheers, srl.
