  1. Back around the middle of September I said
    "
I sympathise .. just done 21 miles in my new [Brasher] FMB2's .. no
blisters, but the tops make my right ankle (bones, and the sides of my
shins) very sore. I must have re-laced them 6 or 8 times, but never did
find a solution. Eventually I guess I'll get them (or my feet) broken
    in.
    "

Someone kindly suggested I was lacing them too tight, but actually, as I
suspected, they just needed some breaking in.

After 200+ miles they are now quite comfortable (even with the standard
Brasher footbeds), still waterproof, and generally I'm pretty happy with
them. The soles are a bit deadly on wet wood (downed tree limbs, damp
stiles, etc.) but you get used to it and go extra carefully .. they're
OK on wet rock, and not bad in mud, and are not wearing too badly yet.

I just took them to bits for a major clean, reproof, etc. and discovered
that one of the laces is wearing badly, probably because some nasty
sharp gorse got caught in the eyelet and has been abrading it. Must
    check more often.

Only real downside is they are pretty heavy (and even heavier when wet,
and muddy), but I'll have to live with it because it's way too soggy
round here to be venturing out in trainers.
