  1. i'm a novice at road biking, but i would like to know the proper seat and handlebar and body position. when to sit/stand?
also, how do i get a good spinning action. i use toe clips (no money for shoes and pedals yet.) in need of advice!

  2. Well, let's start with position on the bike, which comes around eventually to the bike fit. Note that there is not universal agreement on bike fitting! I hope you like to read. You'll have more detailed and specific questions after you read all the links here cyclemetrics.combike fit links.htm. BTW, I know from a previous post that you don't have access to you LBS to help you with this issue (which would be the normal recommendation). The pedaling issues you raise are way down the priority list compared to your bike fit and position. I suggest that you resolve fit and position first because these are absolutely essential.

ideally it is in seam length+length of crank
measure inseam length standing feet 8" apart from floor to crotch
but to begin with start with above dist minus 5cms and incrase 1mm every 2weeks.
This so your body gets used to it.
More advice can be had from bikefitting.com

    happy pedalling

    cheers
