Bob Thom, a stalwart from the old BLRC days, passed away yesterday at the age
of 87 according to reports in the British Press
Active in Percy Stallard's maverick Road Racing organization, the British
League of Racing Cyclists, Bob rode for the old post-war Viking Cycles squad
after starting his road racing career with Wolverhampton Wheelers team
alongside Percy Stallard and Ray Jones.
An active rider to the end, Bob won many races during his long career,
including the Tour of The Peaks.
Bob managed several pro cyclists in former years, notably Tom Simpson and less
notably, Davey
