Blurred and shimmering vision.

Could be an optic migraine (harmless) or a problem with the
retina, vitreous humor, etc. Check with a doctor to make
sure - eyesight is nothing to mess with!

No pain after?

It's called a scintillating scotoma. Migraineurs usually
call it an "aura".

Could be a painless migraine. Check with a neurologist to be
sure. If this is the case, this visual disturbance is caused
by rapid constriction of the vasculature in (and narrowed
bloodflow, to) your brain.

Those who get migraines are at somewhat increased risk of
stroke, due to their propensity for vascular events.

Maybe. I'd see an opthalmologist. Ophthalmic migraine is a
diagnosis of exclusion. Other possibilites include retinal
detachment, glaucoma, optic neuritis, etc.
