Hi, I've applied to a bunch of biostat programs. I've received a lot of vague advice about which schools are "good" -- is there a strong sense of rank?
I am particularly interested in computational genetics/bioinformatics, as I have work experience as a software engineer in that field.
How would you rank Wisconsin vs. Berkeley vs. Michigan vs. Harvard? (I've heard more than one person say Harvard is not very good in that field.) I have already gotten into two of these schools, and the third one is a probable yes.
I dont know specifically about computational genetics/bioinformatics, but UNC-Chapel Hill is considered the best biostatistics school followed by Johns Hopkins. UCLA is also very good. Berkley, Michigan, Harvard - al are extremely good schools. Never heard of Wisconsin being mentioned for biostats. You may want to research specifically for genetics/bioinformatics if that is your interest.
Good luck

Well, this is exactly what I mean by uselessly vague advice. If you haven't heard of Wisconsin, I don't think I can take you seriously.
