Altoona bike club sues its ex-president

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. -- The club that sponsors the Tour de Toona bicycling
event is suing its former president, claiming he owes the club more than
$370,000.
The suit, filed in Blair County this week, accuses Kirk Leidy of
misappropriating funds as an Altoona Bicycle Club official and using club
equipment for his own benefit.
The suit lists 120 checks written to Leidy from 1990 to 2002 for services he
supposedly performed for the Tour de Toona.
The lawsuit follows a criminal investigation into Leidy's handling of club
money. The nine-month investigation ended with the state attorney general's
office saying in March that it found no evidence of wrongdoing.
Leidy, who led the nonprofit corporation for 18 years, denied any wrongdoing
yesterday.
He said the suit is retaliation for legal action he took last spring against
club officials claiming that they defamed him.
