Quoted message said:For year-round commuters this is no big deal. That time of year is
approaching. In my town, they offer free breakfasts at locations
around the city. Even though I've commuted for the last 20 years, I
never participated. But last year, I rode out of my way to get a free
breakfast burrito and other goodies at Whole Foods. That was nice,
I'll do it again.
What does your area plan?
It's also Bicycle-to-School Day. Every year I've had a booth at my kids'
school, but this year the principals are freakin' out, so I have to get PTSA
sponsorship before first. That way it isn't Evil Outside Organization
hosting the booth, but the PTSA that's doing it. OK, that's fine. It's just
that now I have to use my precious free time to make presentations at PTSA
meetings next week at the elementary and middle schools.
Typically I get clif bars, water bottles, and other SWAG from our local
bicycle club to hand out to everyone. I also have safety information for
parents and kids regarding cycling.
I just checked the bike club website -- interestingly, Starbucks is hosting
it this year, rather than the local software company that's done it year
after year in the past.
(http://www.cbcef.org/commuting_btw.html) I'm not sure I like the slogan,
"Grin and Bike It", either.
