Im looking to buy a new mountain bike but im a little confused
Im around 5'10 tall and ride a 55.8cm Felt Roadbike or 22"
and ive been told that means i should be looking at a size 17" Mountain bike
but all the bikes ive looked at seem to be using a different scale (40 to 58 cm i guess)
im really confused, how much smaller or bigger should a mountain bike be compaired to a roadbike frame and why some places measure in Inches and others in CMs?
MTBs are in inches, yes 17"-18" would be right for you.
If in doubt, compare the (horizontal) top tube dimension, it will be just slightly longer than the road bike.
Am i right in thinking a 17/18" frame is the same as a 45/46cm frame?
and if that is right, should someone who rides a 56cm road bike frame, be riding a 46cm mountain bike frame?
should a mountain bike frame be a whole 10cm smaller on average than a roadbike frame, basicly?
