  1. HI there, i need advice on the correct size of bike to get.

I am 5ft 9 and have been offered a good deal on a giant terragon but only in 17 inch frame size. It will be used daily for easy rdining where i will want to be sitting upright. Is a 17 inch too small for this?

  2. 17 might be too small, but it depends on more than just your height. I'm 6 foot and ride an 18 frame on my MTB, but I use it more offroad, which it sounds like you won't be doing.Your best bet is to find a local bike shop and talk to someone there about what would be a good fit. Let them know what kind of riding you will be into, and they can seat you on a good frame size.

  3. My advice: go to a bike shop and have them fit you. If you don't have one in your area, go to one that does. I did this when I bought my second road bike. I road for years adjusting my bike based on various methods that I read in Bicycling, books, etc. But after getting fit by a pro (someone certified to do bike fittings), I can tell you, it makes ALL the difference. Plus, the bike shop will probably fit you for free if you buy your bike from them.
