We have been biking for about 4 months now. This may be an obvious question to many of you so please
extend some patience.
My wife bought some bike shoes. They have the Shimano (sp?) logo on them. The bottom of the shoe had
a removable rectangular section of sole where the clip for the pedals is to be installed. We
installed the clips and saved the sole sections.
She had trouble getting her foot into the pedals at first, but became good at it after time.
My question: We went to the mall on our bikes last week and she was clicking every step.
My guess is that she is supposed to keep the rectangular section with her and change it out with the
clips when she intends to do walking, or only wear the shoes for long, serious, bike tours. This
way, the clips won't wear out by the constant grinding on the concrete.
She disagrees and says that there is no harm done by wearing the shoes with the clips at all times.
Please advise and thanks in advance.
