You would expect to experience pain since you are using muscles that you've not used for 15 years.
You would also experience pain if the bike is set up wrongly, especially if the saddle is too low. Try this site:- peterwhitecycles.comfitting.htm

I'll get back to you on the Daytona Beach route thing....

Yeah your legs will hurt until they get used to riding again... Make sure you have some rest in between rides, that will help with the pain, but keep riding.

Check google for "lake mary longwood bike route" or "florida bike routes" that is what I did for new jersey and found a great site.

Another thing to do is mapquest the area you want to ride... check all the roads on the map for the best bike route... drive the roads in your car and highlight the areas that make a good bike route. It is always a good idea to drive unfamiliar roads before riding them to make sure the road is safe.

  4. Also be aware that sometimes, especially in rural areas like where I live, the maps on google, mapquest, yahoo, etc.. can be misleading. I have mapped three different routes to get to work, but two of them don't exist in reality. Always drive the roads first. It sucks to pedal "X" amount of miles down a road only to find a dead end even though your yahoo maps printout clearly shows the road continuing.
