BIKE-E Fairing install

Hello Edze,

The distance between the inside edges of the two handlebar
mounts on my BikeE's Zzipper fairing is sixteen inches, or
406 mm. This is with the mounts attached to the very ends of
the bars. I had to remove a small amount of the hand grips
to make room for them. Is your handlebar wider than this?

If not, you may just not be stretching the fairing and the
grips wide enough. I remember that once I had unrolled the
fairing, it flexed into its curved shape and was very stiff.
It resisted being stretched to its full width, but it was
possible to do without causing damage.

If your handlebar is substantially wider, I recommend
contacting the source for your fairing rather than forcing
it. Another possibility would be to customize the mounts to
make them wider, but I'd only consider doing that if it
wasn't a new fairing.

Thanks for the tip Derek!! I didn't know it could stretch
out further than how it came. I was shocked to see that it
rolled up into a little box and thought that after
unwrapping it, that's only how wide it will go. I'll dry and
do a little coercive coaxing when I work on it this week.
Thanks! By the way, right out of the box, I couldn't put the
bar ends further than about 4-5 inches from center
(headstock). So it looks funny having the bar ends in the
middle of the gripshift and grip. Ed
