Bike Auction - Perth

Curious as to how you find out about things like this ? Is there a site you can get information from about auctions like this in other states ?

I got the auction catalogue on email tonight, so too late for me to go and inspect. 201 bikes on the catalogue though. Mostly crud but there could be a SS frame or a pub bike there just waiting to be collected. Perhaps even an expensive European steed with a full complement of Record Carbon that has been confiscated from an evil drug dealer (as far as I can work out, the only people who can afford such things)

The only bikes that look possibly half decent are 5 or so Giant MTBs, 1 Merida MTB, 1 GT MTB, 1 Trek MTB, 1 Speciallized MTB (in pieces), 2 Kona MTBs, and 1 Merida roadie.

A "Malvern Star Blue Mens Racer" on the catalogue could be anything.

A "Racing Blue Mens Mountain Bike" could be anything for road or off road.

Per'aps there really is some treasure in there.

there was a large auction in Melbourne last year, after that old dude down Geelong way dropped of fthe perch, leaving a whole houseload of bikes he had stolen from CBD-and-surrounds ove rthe years. 100's/1000's from memory

Police uncover $250,000 worth of bikes and parts

Victorian police are trying to find the owners of more that $250,000 worth of recovered stolen bicycles, bicycle frames and bicycle parts. The
collection was discovered in a Geelong house in February while police were investigating the death of a 64-year-old man. Police said the man died
after falling from a bike he had stolen from central Melbourne and hit his head.

When police checked the man's home address in Scarlet Street, Geelong West, they found 487 bicycles, 187 bike frames and hundreds of wheels,

lights, bicycle helmets and other bicycle parts. Police believe the man had been stealing bikes as far back as 1994 with around 75 per cent taken from
the Melbourne city centre and the rest from Geelong. Investigators said the man would use wire cutters to cut the cables or chains used to secure the
bikes and ride them away. So far police have only traced owners for 25 of the stolen bikes. The bikes range in price from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars.

Photos of the stolen bikes will be displayed in the Victorian Police Centre foyer, 637 Flinders, on Thursday and Friday (June 3 & 4), 10am to 6pm,
and Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 5pm. Proof of ownership will be required to claim bicycles.

In Perth, you can register to be notified by email. Google on eg 'Police Auctions Melbourne' to find the auction house you need.
